Common Questions
Yes, the custom orthotics are designed to fit into your child’s current shoes or cleats.
Please make sure their shoe has laces to allow for proper fitting.
Yes, children can participate in sports activities while using their Mikki Device™ orthotics. It is advised to slowly ease into these activities with their new orthotics.
The night brace should be used on your child’s most symptomatic foot first for the 1st week and then alternate. This is the best practice as children may have difficulty sleeping with two night braces on at the same time, although some parents choose to order two.
Within 2-4 weeks, as your child consistently wears the orthotics and utilizes the night brace, inflammation will be dramatically reduced and range of motion improves. At this point, participation in activities generally becomes less painful.
In the initial 4-6 weeks it is recommended that the child wear the orthotics everyday as much as possible. Once the condition is controlled we recommend that the child continue to wear the orthotics at school and regular activities.
It is recommended that the child stop wearing the orthotic after 1 year as they will have outgrown the orthotic. Some children will get severs again as their growth plates are still open and may require another Mikki Device™ orthotic.
