The 'Moon Boot'

The Mikki Device Pediatric Night Splint, commonly known as the “Moon Boot,” is a lightweight and comfortable brace specially designed to address two common foot conditions in children: toe walking and Sever’s disease. As an integral part of the Mikki Device kit, this innovative night splint is suitable for children aged 5 to 18, and it works in conjunction with other components of the kit to promote healthy foot development and alleviate discomfort.

The Mikki Device™ is a custom shoe orthotic cast specifically from your child’s foot. These custom orthotics fit into your child’s shoes or cleats, and allow them to resume sports and running activities without heel pain.

Why the Pediatric Night Splint is an Essential Part of the Mikki Device Kit

The Mikki Device kit offers a comprehensive solution to effectively treat foot conditions that can impact a child’s mobility and comfort. The Pediatric Night Splint plays a crucial role in this treatment plan by providing targeted support for the following conditions:

  • Toe Walking: For children who exhibit idiopathic toe gait (toe walking), the Pediatric Night Splint is recommended to be worn for 6 to 12 months, 7 to 8 hours each night. It gently stretches and aligns the foot, helping to correct toe walking behavior.

  • Sever’s Disease: For children with acute or chronic Sever’s disease, the Pediatric Night Splint is recommended to be worn for 6 to 8 weeks, 7 to 8 hours each night. It provides passive stretching of the Achilles tendon, reducing heel pain and inflammation.

The breathable fabric and padded liner of the splint ensure a comfortable and secure fit, making it easier for children to adhere to the treatment plan. Please note that the night splint is not intended for ambulation (walking) and should only be worn while the child is resting or sleeping.
